2007 Rian de Jong has recently worked at the European Ceramic Work Centre in Den Bosch NL, for three months. She has already been using
ceramic in her work, but now she has the possibility to explore this
material and its specific techniques at a much deeper level. The new
collection includes brooches, in which ceramic is combined with
electroformed metal, rings with lavish lustre and ceramic lines that form drawings on the wall.
For years Rian has been inspired by the meditarranean coastline.
Now on the eve of an adventurous trip to Greenland and America this
work represents both a farewell (vaarwel) and a promise at the same time.
